A house party in the West Valley turned chaotic late Friday night after gunfire erupted as guests were leaving, sending people running for safety and leaving one man with life-threatening injuries. According to Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting near 101st Avenue and Weir Avenue around 10:30 p.m. on May 22.

Investigators say the violence broke out as the gathering was winding down and two groups reportedly exchanged gunfire outside the residence. Witnesses described scenes of panic and confusion as partygoers fled the area in fear while shots rang out. Nearby residents also reported hearing multiple gunshots followed by screaming and people rushing away from the scene.

Authorities confirmed that a 21-year-old man was struck during the exchange of gunfire. Witnesses reportedly transported the victim to a nearby hospital before he was later transferred to another medical facility due to the severity of his injuries. Officials said the man remains in critical but stable condition as doctors continue treating him.

Law enforcement officers secured the neighborhood shortly after the shooting while detectives and forensic investigators began collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.
